Riding with Booma

Open the Booma app and check or update your pick-up location, then enter your destination. Select the vehicle type that suits you, then choose your preferred fare — Priority, Standard, or Wait & Save. You'll see your fare upfront before confirming. Once confirmed, you'll be matched with a nearby driver and can track their arrival in real time.

Fares are calculated based on the estimated distance and time of your trip, plus a base fare. You'll always see the total price upfront before you confirm your ride. Booma does not use surge pricing - fares remain consistent even during peak times.

Booma accepts Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You can add multiple payment methods and select your preferred one before each ride.

Once matched, you can message or call your driver directly through the app. Your personal phone number is never shared - all communication is routed through Booma's privacy-protected system.

Go to your trip history in the app, select the ride, and tap "I lost an item" to lodge a report. Our team will follow up with your driver. If your item is found, we'll arrange a return — a small return fee may apply to cover the driver's time.

Driving with Booma

Visit the Drive with Booma page and tap "Sign up to drive." You'll need to provide your driver's licence, vehicle details, and consent to a background check.

Your vehicle must be model year 2014 or newer, seat at least 4 passengers, have current registration and third-party rideshare insurance, and pass a vehicle safety inspection. Full details are on the driver page.

Drivers are paid weekly via direct deposit to your nominated Australian bank account. You can track your earnings in real time through the Booma Driver app, including a breakdown of each trip's earnings.

Absolutely. There are no minimum hours or shifts. Drive when it suits you: mornings, evenings, weekends, or whenever you have time. Many drivers work part-time alongside other employment or study.

Account & payments

Download the Booma app from the App Store or Google Play, open it, and follow the sign-up prompts. You'll need to provide your name, mobile number, email address, and a payment method. Verification is completed via SMS.

Go to Settings > Payment in the Booma app. You can add, remove, or change your default payment method at any time. Changes take effect immediately for your next ride.

Tap the menu icon in the app and select "Your trips." You'll see a complete history of all your rides including dates, routes, fares, and driver details. You can also download receipts for any trip.

Go to your trip history, select the ride in question, and tap "Get help with this trip." You can request a fare review directly from the app. Our support team will review the trip details and process a refund within 3-5 business days if the charge was incorrect.

Safety & emergencies

All drivers undergo a driving history review and vehicle safety inspection before going live on the platform. Drivers must hold a full Australian licence and be at least 21 years old. Learn more on our safety page.

In an emergency, always call 000 first. You can also access an emergency call button in the Booma app by tapping the safety shield icon during your ride.
